During his ten year prison sentence, Dan “Tito” Davis penned a 700-page manuscript, which chronicled his thirteen year period on the run from the United States federal government. His writing provided a glimpse into staying alive and out of prison while mixing it up with major drug cartels in Colombia and Mexico; crossing the Darien Gap the worlds most dangerous passageway, sneaking into Germany, getting interrogated in Cuba, and building a resort in Venezuela the same time Hugo Chavez was calling President Bush “the devil” at the United Nations. And while Davis’s exploits were stunning, there was only one problem—he wasn’t a writer.

While living in a halfway house in Wyoming, Davis met with writer Peter Conti and quickly tapped him to “write his story the right way.” For a year the two worked diligently to turn Davis’s raw material into an action-packed memoir, which includes Davis’s life before he went on the lam—how he was making $200,000 a week in college manufacturing White Crosses (speed) and distributing them across the country via the Bandidos motorcycle gang; when he was trafficking thousands of pounds of high grade pot through tunnels and on horse trailers; and how he was set up by his childhood friend.

Published by Full Court Press, under the direction of Barry Sheinkopf, Gringo is a must-read for those looking for what life is really like on the run.

Wow what a Life!!! I am a professional windsurfer, I started reading this book while in an airport waiting to board my international flight. The flight was delayed so I had additional time to get into the story. I got so into Tito’s saga that the lady next to me had to tell me that we were boarding the plane or I would have missed my flight. This book will keep you literally glued to the pages. Read it, it will take you away from where you are at!!!

Dan Davis is a great storyteller, and his real life experiences are better than any possible fiction could be. This book will keep you turning pages well into the night. The characters are bigger than life, the near-miss scenarios just keep coming, and the ending brings reality info focus. Don’t miss this one – it is sure to become a hit movie. Full disclosure, I am actually a friend of Dan Davis and get to enjoy his stories and incredible way of relating n a daily basis.

Intense! Gringo is a book that has to be read. This is a true story. It is an adventure but one that most will want just to read and not duplicate. This book a story of Dan “Tito” Davis and his decision to start a new life on the run as a fugitive. It is not all fun and games, but intense situations and drama that keeps you turning the pages. This adventure has all the elements of fun, pleasure, fear, as well as intense life or death situations that most would not be able to fathom. He takes you to places you might want to visit and them to those you would never even think of. His story is compelling and real and written with that energy and intensity that “Tito” comes to life in front of as you read this. This book would make a fantastic movie!. Pick it up now and you won’t regret it.

Wrongly accused for a crime he didn’t commit, it’s an epic tale what the human spirit can do against all odds! I couldn’t lay down the book. Peter Conti grabs the essence of what Dan Davis is, he quits at nothing. You only wish you could have been there to help Dan “Tito” Davis!
